Unless ordered with a fixed tree, all of our saddles are supplied with the all new exclusive Varilock adjustable gullet system. This system is completely user friendly and allows the rider to adjust the saddle to fit almost any type of horse, having the astonishing range from 25cm to 35cm! It is very durable and carries a 3 year warranty against breakage and is very discreetly accessed through a window under the pommel of the saddle.
All Laser Saddles (with the exception of the RendezVous and Universal Saddles) are equipped with the original LASER™ Double Vee billet system, which creates an even strain along the rails of the saddle, thus providing excellent stability. The front billets of the Laser saddle are not attached to the points of the tree but are instead attached behind the point of the tree for additional shoulder freedom.
Jeremy Beale came to prominence when he first represented Great Britain at the European 3 Day Event Championships at Harewood, England in 1959. That same year he was offered a place on the British Show Jumping Team for competitions in Belgium and Holland, but was unable to accept due to his commitment to the 3 Day Event Team.
He was reserve rider for the British Equestrian Team for the 1960 and 1964 Olympic Games in Rome and Tokyo respectively, having had the misfortune to lose his first string horse to injury in the final weeks before the Games on both occasions. He was 5th in the World Championships at Burghley in 1962, 5th also in the European Championships in 1963, 5th again at the Badminton 3 Day Event in 1967 and won the prestigious Burghley 3 Day Event in 1965.
After leaving the Army with the rank of Major in 1967, Jeremy came to the USA to take up the directorship of Potomac West, which subsequently became known as the Pacific Horse Center. In 1971 he moved to Chester Springs, where he established Pen-y-Bryn Equestrian Center after three years at Fox Hollow Farm.
In recent years he re-entered the competitive arena in the field of dressage, competing with much success through Grand Prix and earning his USDF Gold Medal. He now has an extensive clinic circuit, which takes him the length and breadth of the country, as well as abroad. His services as a clinician are in great demand and his students have been conspicuously successful through the FEI levels. Indeed, one of his students won the Adult Amateur Horse of the Year Award at Prix St. Georges in 1996 and at Intermediare 1 in 1997, while another won 4th level Amateur Horse of the Year award in 1997.
During his travels, Jeremy Beale has experienced the whole gamut of equipment. He has always recognized the necessity of making the horse as comfortable as possible to facilitate his working well for the rider. At the same time he saw so many riders struggling with the balance of their saddles, making it almost impossible for them to sit either correctly or comfortably. Some riders resorted to the use of towels as bump pads or wither pads, often adding to their horse's discomfort!
Ultimately, Jeremy was prompted to set about developing a saddle that would address these issues. It was an inevitable extension of these philosophies that soon led him to modify traditional bridles and strap goods.
Thornhill Saddles...
PRO-TRAINER is our own brand. We assure you that only the most expensive hand selected bridle leather is used. We make Pro-Trainer saddles and strap goods on 3 continents: Europe, North America and South America. The saddle panels contain a proprietary wool/closed cell vinyl foam sandwich which maintains its shape. Trees are available in three or more widths. Our standard tree fits most normal American Thoroughbreds. The medium tree is over an inch wider and fits Arabs, Morgans, etc. The wide trees is for horses with wide backs and / or virtually no withers (e.g. large Warmbloods, Quarter Horses, Percherons). Pro-Trainer bridles and strap goods are selected to match our saddles and meet the same quality standards.
JORGE CANAVES saddles have been distributed by us since 1983. Canaves copies "great" European saddles in his plants since his retirement from Olympic competition in 1964. Canaves is one of two quality saddle makers in Argentina. He builds primarily for the European market.
The GERMANIA line consists of renowned German products, modified by a German saddler, with the help of American Olympic riders at Southern Pines over a two year period. The three saddles are the result of this Americanization.
GRADY AND SHANNON are marks of Thornhill for products made to our specifications by Pakistani Saddlers with over 50 years commercial experience. "Grady" and "Shannon" are the only reasonably priced children's saddles in tree widths to fit ponies. Products are selected for serviceability and value and are entry models for adults. Shannon Strap goods offer English leather and stainless buckles at very affordable prices in warmblood, horse, cob and pony sizes.
SADDLE TRIAL
The trial period is for four (4-5) days from the day that you receive the saddle. If you choose to send the saddle(s) back, you are responsible for shipping via UPS or FEDEX. Please return the saddle(s) in its original packaging and you must insure the return postage. We are not responsible for saddles lost/damaged in the mail; return insurance is required for your own protection. If you decide to return the saddle(s), a $65.00 per saddle shipping fee/restocking fee will be deducted from your refunded amount. The saddle(s) must be in the same condition as it was when sent to you (see #10 below). If you decide to exchange the saddle(s), you will be responsible for paying the difference (if any) and shipping of the new saddle(s). No saddle will be sent out unless payment has been received in full. If you pay with a personal check your order will not be processed until your check clears the bank.
1) Saddles must be returned in the condition they were received.
2) When riding in a new saddle, the stirrup leathers must be wrapped (tube socks are recommended) to avoid scratching. Please do not use vetwrap! Only use a girth with roller buckles.
3) Try to avoid riding in newly polished tall boots, chaps, and/or spurs that can stain or mark the saddle.
4) Please do not oil or use tack cleaning products on new saddles.
5) Use a clean pad under the saddle while riding.
6) Limit rides to 10-15 minutes to limit wear.
7) If you decide to return the saddle, the saddle will need to be shipped by the fourth (4th) working day after the saddle is received. Customer is responsible for shipping charges!
8) Saddles to be returned will be shipped using a traceable carrier (FedEx or UPS).
9) Saddles to be returned will be shipped insured for the purchase price of the saddle.
10) Shipping costs for saddles will not be refunded. Some amount of "use" is expected, even on new saddles however we expect you to treat the saddle as if it was your own. It is a big purchase and you should be confident in your decision to keep or return a saddle. We understand a trial period requires riding in the saddle! However, if a saddle is returned with damage beyond what is normal and expected, you will be responsible for the difference between the cost of the new saddle you received and the discounted price of the saddle resulting from the damage incurred.
